Siddhartha Indian Cuisine opens in Riverside
/Siddhartha Indian Cuisine, a long-time Gerrard St. East destination popular for its buffet, has a new Queen East offshoot now open in Riverside.
The Little India export is running out of a much smaller space (formerly Pretty Hair Salon) than its original location, offering a take-out counter and neighbourhood delivery. What they lack in size, however, they make up for with a menu chock-full of Indian classics as well as a few surprise dishes.
Unlike the Gerrard location, which reopened in the last few years as a vegetarian restaurant, the new Riverside location offers plenty in the way of meat options including chicken, fish and lamb entrees — think butter chicken, tikka masala and vindaloo. Veg dishes range from mattar and saag paneer to aloo gobi and baingan bharta (tandoori-baked eggplant). Most entrees ring in between $10 to $12, and Siddhartha's menu also offers a good mix of apps, various roti and naan and biryani creations.
Their website is in rough shape, and along with the menu it curiously features spelling of Sidhartha with one and two 'd's. Perhaps best to give them a call at 416-463-4200 or drop by the new restaurant at 734 Queen St. East (east of Broadview).
