The Thirsty Duck opens in Leslieville

The Thirsty Duck

The Thirsty Duck is now open in Leslieville at the corner of Queen East and Carlaw. Formerly Celline Garden, the space was under renovation for the bulk of the summer and quietly opened its doors this past week.

The "social, eating, public house" is owned by restaurateurs Joey Skeir and Cherie Stinson, the same team behind nearby Eastside Social. It makes sense then that The Thirsty Duck shares some of the same maritime influences.

The menu, for instance, boasts The Halifax Donair ($12), a staple of the Nova Scotian city's take-out counters and the perfect way to sop up a gut full of beer at the end of a late night. Other east coast dishes include fish and chips ($15), appropriately prepared "back home style", as well fried brothers pepperoni ($5), a Scotian bar snack, and shrimps on toast ($13.50). Two different burgers, chicken wings and slow-braised beef ribs also make an appearance.

The Thirsty Duck also has an all-day breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays — two eggs, sausage, bacon, baked beans and toast for $12. There's also a daily lunch special served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
