The Big Carrot, one of the original healthy grocers in Toronto since 1983, is opening a second location in the Upper Beach where it be the anchor store in a new condo development.

The planned 6,300 square foot space is going into The Southwood, a project by Streetcar Developments, on Kingston Road east of Woodbine Ave.

“We are thrilled to announce our second store and our partnership with Streetcar Developments," says GM James Munro. "Our businesses have a similar goal in building strong community relationships. Our loyal customers have been anticipating this news for a long time, we look forward to joining the Beach community."

Slated to open in late 2017, the store's second location will carry a mix of specialty foods — local, vegan, organic, gluten-free, non-GMO — in a more compact space than the original. The retailer will also combine grocery, natural body care, vitamins and a juice bar.
