After a dreary spring, summer is pretty much official at this point — and you know what that means: The justification to eat ice cream on the daily.

Wong’s Ice Cream just launched in Toronto's east end, a fresh spot for frozen delights on Gerrard St. east of Broadview Ave.

The Asian-style ice cream parlour is the latest startup from Ed Wong, formerly of Henry Brown’s Small Batch Ice Cream in Hamilton.

Wong has created a lineup of hard ice creams with an emphasis on Asian flavour profiles — think lemongrass, wasabi, ginger and jasmine.

"People can expect a clean, friendly, casual environment where they can sample really creative Asian inspired ice cream flavours," Wong says. "Our signature flavour is Chinese Tiger Tail — black sesame with salted duck egg."

Wong's Ice Cream is also scooping flavours such as ube, Vietnamese coffee, wasabi honey, chocolate yuzu and rosewater white chocolate jasmine.

Wong's Ice Cream also has vegan and gluten-free flavours such as orange candied ginger, coconut mango sticky rice and lemongrass lime sorbet, and quarts to buy and take home.

"We’ve stocked the shop with a selection of sweets, snacks and beverages that are suitable for foodies, gluten-free diets and vegan diets," Wong adds.

Wong's Ice Cream is still fine-tuning its hours but is currently open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Wong's Ice Cream is now open at 617 Gerrard St. E. Check them out at wongsicecream.com or on Facebook and Instagram
