The Leslieville Flea returns to Ashbridge Estate
/Heading into its fourth season, The Leslieville Flea is returning to its summertime venue on the lush grounds of Ashbridge Estate. The outdoor market, which kicks off its season on June 19, is an impeccably curated marketplace for salvaged wares and crafted goods.
Whether you're on the hunt for that hard-to-find collectible or just want to hang out and enjoy the lazy Sunday atmosphere, The Leslieville Flea is a must-hit for locals and vendors alike.
Christine Roberts, one half of the duo behind the monthly event (along with Brigid Elmy), says it's all about shopping local, hanging out in your community and enjoying the best of the neighbourhood.
"Many visitors remark that it’s become a community hub and a great way to spend a Sunday, meet up with friends and catch up with neighbour," she says.
More than 50 vendors are expected to put their wares on showcase each month with displays ranging from vintage clothing to salvaged furniture, up-cycled goods and handcrafted items, plus food and drink vendors to satisfy taste buds and live music to keep things entertaining.
New for this year, Left Field Brewery will be joining forces with the market, pouring its local brew in the park to quench the thirsty. The Leslieville Flea will also be hosting yoga in the park again this year.
"We did a soft launch last year and hope to expand on this," Roberts says. "All proceeds go to the Red Door Shelter — it's our way of giving back and Heather at TadPole yoga is a great partner with us on that."
The 2016 edition of The Leslieville Flea kicks off on June 19, and runs the third Sunday of every month with additional dates on July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 16. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ashbridge Estate at 1444 Queen St. E.
Organizers are also planning a special speakeasy-themed flea set to take place at the Distillery District as part of the TD Jazz Festival on June 25.
