Nature lovers and Instagram addicts can agree, springtime brings one of the most swoon-worthy sights to Toronto each year: The pop of cherry blossoms in peak bloom.

Now, a row of cherry blossom trees will soon be planted at Woodbine Beach in the city's east end, according to the Beach Metro

Ward 32 councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon says a number of the trees have been gifted by a Japanese donor to be planted in the same tradition as the famous cherry blossom tunnels of Japan.

Also known by its Japanese name, sakura, the tree's canopy of pink and white blooms attract thousands who make the annual pilgrimage to witness the vibrant colours, most notably at High Park.

The plans for the trees coming to Woodbine Beach is to have them plotted and planted by the end of April.
