General Motors is establishing a hub in Toronto's east end that will transform the land at Cinespace film studios on Eastern Ave.

The auto maker has submitted plans for a seven-acre centre — called the Toronto GM Mobility Campus — that will span three development blocks, push 882,640 square feet in size and be able to accommodate up to 3,000 new jobs, according to Urban Toronto.

The standout site with frontage along Lake Shore Boulevard E. will house several buildings and be home to a new Cadillac Canada sales and marketing headquarters, a GM Canada regional sales office, a Chevrolet Buick GMC dealership, a Cadillac dealership, service centre and research and development space.

A new street will connect Eastern Ave. and Lake Shore Blvd, and plans call for the development of a public space with a landscaping program, tree planting and extra-wide sidewalks.
