Toronto's east end is welcoming its latest spot for local beer with the launch of Saulter Street Brewery.

Off the beaten path south of Queen East, the taps have been turned on at Saulter Street, the brewery's namesake street in Riverside.

Riverside Pilsner, a hopped version of a classic Czech-style pilsner, is the the flagship beer from founder John Sterling and brewer Peter Kufeldt, made with “locally sourced small batch malts with a healthy dose of Saaz hops to give it a spicy bite.”

"We're sourcing our malt from a small-batch Canadian maltster who specializes in European malt styles and our signature hop will be the iconic Czech Saaz."

Saulter Street includes a 20-hectolitre brewhouse, 40-seat tap room and retail store with growlers and 473ml cans to take away.

"Overlooking our state-of-the-art brewhouse, the tap room is where we experiment with new flavours. Here you’ll find small-batch beers on tap that are only available at Saulter Street."

Saulter Street Brewery is located at 1-31 Saulter St. and open seven days a week from 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. Check out saulterstreetbrewery.com for more info.
