Longtime brunch fixture Edward Levesque has closed the doors to its Leslieville restaurant after 16 years in business.

The namesake establishment of owner Edward Levesque became well-known for its weekend menu that helped put the neighbourhood on the map as a brunch destination.

Rebranded as Edward's 1290 a few years back, the restaurant also had dinner service with rotating features of locally sourced fare.

Its lively open kitchen was at the front of the house and in plain sight for passersby on Queen St. E.

Sunday Aug. 20 was its final brunch service.
