After months of reworking a former Gerrard St. photo shop, Pinkerton's Snack Bar is open as a new nighttime hangout for eats and libations.

Marc Baglio, formerly of Czehoski, is running point behind Pinkerton's, making drinks and bringing the snack bar idea to life.

Dim-lit and cozy, the focal point is a long wooden bar outfitted with industrial stools, work lamps and salvage decor including metal signage and a Prohibition-era cash register. On the wall of the bar, a working traffic light signals green during regular service and goes to yellow and red during last call and closing time.

Pinkerton's has a small, changing menu of shareable plates like pork neck pancake, fried tofu and green papaya salad, king mushroom nappa rolls and, Fausto's Chicken Special, sous-vide then crispy piri piri chicken with buttermilk dressing.

The cocktail list runs deep with 2 oz. classics for $12. There's a selection of $6 bottled beer and $7 tallboys with a range of domestic and craft labels, and also a small wine list.

Table seating juts up against original brick that's been exposed and a long mirror running along one of its walls. The bathrooms keep things interesting with trippy black marker artwork scribbled over the walls and stall doors.

Pinkerton's is open at 1026 Gerrard St. E. from Wednesday to Saturday from 5:30 p.m.. to late. Visit them on Instagram or Twitter for more info.
