La Paella brings classic Spanish tapas to Leslieville
/Tastes of Spain have been imported to Toronto with the opening of La Paella in Leslieville.
The former Edjan convenience store at Queen and Coady has been transformed into a charming corner restaurant serving Spanish dishes such as boquerones, croquetas, morcilla and jamon iberico.
The menu is anchored with staples among the small dishes that make up classic tapas, patatas bravas (which translates to brave potatoes), for instance, and tortillas Espanola, the humble Spanish omelet.
One of the more daring dishes includes pulpo a la Gallega, boiled octopus with olive oil and sea salt.
Of course, you don't call yourself La Paella for nothing — its namesake dish is one of the main attractions. Four varieties of paella come in servings of two, four or six, made in-house on burners brought in from Spain.
La Paella is now open at 1146 Queen St. E.
