Farm to Table Co-op Market launches outlet for fresh produce, local vendors
/The Leslieville Community Market, which took over a vacant Queen East lot for its outdoor summer market, has moved indoors and adopted a new name.
Now called Farm to Table Co-op Market, the brick-and-mortar is aiming to bring the neighbourhood more local produce options from fruit and vegetables to baked goods, chocolates, cooking oils and other goods.
The market is being run in cooperation with various local vendors including Clarks Bread, Maplewood Grange organic flour, M Thompson Chocolates, Rustichella oils and vinegars, Snaffle and Mane succulents, Caras Skin Care, PBD Jewelry, Koko Soy Candles and Treeform designs.
"We also have amazing baking including pies, crumbles, cookies, tarts — the chocolate tarts are crazy good — as well as Kawartha Dairy products coming in, fresh flowers, potted mums, mini pumpkins and gourds for the season."
Vendors who come on board with the market will be in rotation for six months each, says Hayes.
Swing by Saturday Oct. 1 for the market's grand opening featuring ribbon cutting, balloons and sheet cake.
The market accepts Visa and Mastercard, debit and cash.
Leslieville Farm to Table Co-op Market is located at 1144 Queen St. E, and is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
