Chef Danny Pantano is shutting down Glas, his Leslieville restaurant and wine bar, after four years running on Queen East.

Glas was revered by critics and foodies alike for Pantano's creation of fun, inventive dishes working in a small and intimate 600 square-foot setting.

A seasonal and locally sourced menu changed weekly with a four-course tasting menu available for both omnivores and vegetarians. Glas also highlighted select and affordable Ontario wines in their prime to pair alongside its dishes.

There is no word on an official closing date but we'll update when more is known. Below is the full statement given by Pantano on Facebook:

Farewell Leslieville!

After almost 4 years of great food, delicious wine, wonderful people, and lots of fun times, GLAS Wine Bar is closing its door.

GLAS has been a place I call home , where I enjoyed entertaining many wonderful guests, a place of first dates, wedding dinners, girls nights, graduations, baby showers and many important milestones in our guests lives.

I want to thank all of you, our customers, friends and family. We really enjoyed taking care of you for a few hours and thank you for taking care of me.

I would also like to thank my patient and amazing staff that allowed me to be crazy, and manic, and still showed up to work everyday with a big smile on their face. I could have never done this without you!

There are no words to express how I feel. GLAS was a very special place and I am sure one day I will open my doors once again to such wonderful customers and friends.

With all my heart,

Danny
