Window signage has gone up at Dundas and Carlaw for Gare de l'Est Brasserie at the brand-spanking-new home for Crow's Theatre, Streetcar Crowsnest.

French phrases tease the soon-to-come venture — which more or less translates to East Station Brewery — with frank, playful questions: "Vouz venez solvent ici?" (Do you come here often?) and "Un p'tit coup de pinard?" (A little bit of booze?).

The 65-seat brasserie-inspired restaurant, slated to launch in the spring, coincides with the opening of the theatre. It's the latest venture for local restauranteurs Erik Joyal and John Sinopoli, who are also behind neighbourhood outlets Ascari Enoteca, and Hi-Lo Bar.

They're describing Gare de l'Est as "an authentic and modern French brasserie that celebrates the Parisian experience."

According to Streetcar Crowsnest, Gare de l'Est is planned to have an additional 50-seat patio at the corner of Carlaw and Dundas. The brasserie will be open 7 days a week, from early morning through to pre- and post-theatre dinner.
