It’s no secret that camping gear can come with a hefty price tag. If you’re using it every day, then it’s a great value. But what about those who only tackle the outdoors once or twice a year? Enter Funspree.

Located in Leslieville, Funspree has everything you need to get outside and enjoy a weekend under the stars. The best part is that you don’t have to buy stuff to plan your next outdoorsy getaway, only to stash it in a closet and hardly ever use it again. You can borrow it.

Its aptly named “Glamping” experience comes loaded with a 6-person tent from The North Face, two queen airbeds with sheets and heavy blankets, portable Weber BBQ and propane, a 24-piece tableware set and 50-can cooler, chairs, lanterns and more accessories to make life outdoors a breeze. It even comes with a corn hole game for some friendly competition between camping neighbours.

All you bring is the food, drinks and sense of adventure.

We recently had the opportunity to test the kit on the shores of Lake Erie during a trip to Long Point Provincial Park. Without having to worry about hauling everything out of a dusty garage — and checking whether mattresses had sprung a leak or stoves still fired up — we could focus on more important things: campfires, s'mores and sunsets.

A click of a button and — just like that — everything arrived directly on the doorstep. Whether you’re a newbie looking to get a taste for the outdoors or a seasoned wilderness adventurer, the convenience of having everything you need delivered in a clean, neat package is worth every cent.

As one of Ontario's oldest provincial parks, and the only one to be located in a designated World Biosphere Preserve, Long Point is heavy on bragging rights. Picture an endless stretch of beach with soft, white sand as far as you can see. The water is clean and clear with surf to play in all day. Sun, sand, swimming — it’s all here.

Funspree’s gear strikes a great balance between roomy and luxurious while not being too heavy or cumbersome like a lot of car camping gear.

Virtually “a portable chateau,” as The North Face calls it, the top-of-the-line Wawona tent is light, roomy and comfy with enough space for up to six people. The ceilings are high enough to stand inside the tent and throw an impromptu dance party.

The kit’s portable BBQ lets you take your chef skills on the road and bring tasty cuisine to camp. Its got porcelain-enameled cooking grates and a dial to fine-tune the heat.

It’s easy to see that the package was crafted by the Funspree team with fun and comfort in mind. From the quality tableware to the comfy chairs and even a tank of gas thrown in, the all-in-one setup is convenient and adds a touch of glamour to your camping experience.

Funspree includes easy-to-follow instructions for how to assemble and use the tent and stove — and even the rules of corn hole to keep cheaters at bay.

For many people it’s hard to afford all the equipment needed to camp or backpack, not to mention the logistics challenge of organizing and storing it all. Funspree’s kits start at $149 for 4-day rentals and top out at $229 for 11 days — enough time to get lost in the wild.

If camping isn’t your thing, Funspree offers gear for other experiences including a backyard movie night, tandem paddleboards and laser tag.
