Dominion Pub and Kitchen gives new life to one of Toronto's oldest bars

After shuttering last summer, Dominion on Queen, one of Toronto's oldest pubs, has been reborn under new ownership as Dominion Pub and Kitchen.

The Corktown institution, first opened in 1889, was closed for renovation, and then eventually sold to Fab Restaurant Concepts, the people behind several Toronto establishments including Murphy's Law, Brazen Head and Foggy Dew.

The space has been transformed with plenty of spit and polish to make for a tastefully appointed room with expansive space, a mix of high-top tables, leather couches and bar seating.

Dominion Pub and Kitchen is pulling 24 taps of craft beer with over 20 bottles in the fridge consisting mainly of a solid mix of local brewers with a few imports thrown in. There is also an impressive list of hand-crafted cocktails, a trio of caesars and daily $3 shots.

The food menu features all of the usual pub suspects like wings, nachos and fish and chips, plus a few surprises such as a wild boar sloppy joe and an elk burger topped with Korean barbecue-glazed bacon.

There is live music lined up from Thursday to Saturday nights, weekend brunch and a Sunday roast dinner feature.

Dominion Pub and Kitchen is now open at 500 Queen Street East. Visit them online for more information and to check out the menu
