Toronto is second to none in its food scene, its neighbourhood shops, its arts and culture and green space. If you are accustomed to treating yourself to the finest the city has to offer, why should your pet deserve any less?

That's the thinking behind Tom & Sawyer, a high-end dog and cat food boutique now open in Leslieville, which offers doting pet owners fresh, healthy prepared meals.

The pet food shop has converted an old tile store at Queen and Leslie into a kitchen and lounge for four-legged creatures and, according to Tom&Sawyer, is offering small-batch cooked meals to cats and dogs through subscription ordering and single, in-store purchase.

You're now able to pamper your pooch or cater to your cat with all the same ingredients you find in your fridge to make homemade meals for your family, such as chicken breast, ground beef, salmon and fruits and vegetables.

Their production kitchen uses restaurant-grade equipment, and features an open-concept design to showcase food prep to would-be customers.

Tom&Sawyer is now open at 1247 Queen St East. Check out tomandsawyer.com for more info.
