Sound Academy set to close and be remade into Port Lands super club

Sound Academy

Sound Academy, the waterfront concert venue in Toronto's Port Lands, will be shutting its doors in January to undergo a massive redesign and format change into a super club complex.

In a press release from the club's owner, INK Entertainment, the company says the concert space will undergo a complete remodel that includes major structural work. When it reopens, the completed space will serve as a concert venue, dance club and event space.

While the name is still unknown, plans for the venue call for two floors of space, private VIP access, expansive views of Toronto’s skyline, and an effortless transition to the luxury outdoor lounge, Cabana Poolbar.

INK Entertainment says the main feature of the club will be a 65-foot stage with massive LED walls, which will create a space that is “mature and sophisticated, and a complete sensory experience for our guests.”

“The main of objective of the remodel was not only to deliver a visually striking platform for guests and headliners, but to elevate their collective experience to new heights of hedonism," said project designer Alessandro Munge of Studio Munge.
