If pizza is your true love, and we have no shame in saying it is for us, then you'll be happy to hear that Pizzeria Via Mercanti has opened its doors in Little India.

The pizza parlour has brought its wood-fired pies and fresh-cranked pasta to a new location at 1503 Gerrard St. E near Coxwell.

This is the third outpost for the pizza parlour, which has two other Toronto locations in Kensington and in the city's downtown core.

Although it's Via Mercanti's first foray into the east end, the duo of pizzaiolos behind the operation, Romolo Salvati and Massimo Di Lascio, hold pizza pedigree at nearby Queen Margherita where they slung dough before busting out on their own.

The Italian eatery, which has scored marks on best-of pizza lists and has been featured on the Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here!, is best known for its Neapolitan-style pies. Its menu, however, has a lot more to offer from antipasti to fresh pastas and panini sandwiches, plus a flush wine list and gelato bar.
