My Little Dumplings opens permanent home in Leslieville
/My Little Dumplings, a favourite of farmers' markets throughout Toronto, has opened a permanent storefront at Queen and Greenwood in Leslieville.
Taking over the former space of Kindred Spirits, the kitchen puts a new twist on the classic dumpling with fresh, local, seasonal and organic ingredients.
Owner and chef Bashir Munye took inspiration from global cuisine when honing in on the simple dumpling, which he says has history in nearly every culinary culture from around the world. Whether you call it a pierogi, gyoza, gnocchi or a patty, at the end of the day it's all just a satisfying little morsel of comfort deliciousness.
The grab-and-go shop has opened with a simple, modest menu — set to change seasonally — of steamed buns, daily soup, salads and, of course, dumplings, including a lipsmacking potato gnocchi with roasted garlic tomato sauce and sunflower parsley pesto for $8.
My Little Dumplings is open 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays while the business gets up and runnning and familiar with the neighbourhood. Plans are in the works to replace the exterior facade and expand hours in the near future.
My Little Dumplings is located at 1372 Queen St. E. Visit mylittledumplings.com for more information.
