Movies In The Park launches Indiegogo campaign to keep screenings free
/Movies in the Park is celebrating five years of presenting summer film screenings in Riverdale Park. Family, friends, first dates have all enjoyed movies under the stars in this beautiful park setting. But these movies don't run for free. Movies In The Park needs the neighbourhood's help raising funds to keep this great summer tradition alive, and the organization has launch an Indiegogo campaign in the hopes of doing just that.
The hard costs involved with the park movies include the City of Toronto event permits, movie screen rental and delivery, licensing, insurance and screen and sound technicians. It works out to being $2,500 for just one screening.
In addition to paying for the events, Movies In The Park is raising funds to support local kids charities including the Boys & Girls Club and Art City.
The overall Indiegogo goal is a lofty $20,000, and the money raised will go directly to paying the bills. All funds raised above the organization's hard costs will go directly to its charity partners.
As reward for donations, Movies In the Park has a range of perks outlined on its campaign page. A $100 contribution will get you dinner at a local restaurant followed by a movie while $300 gets you a family fun pack to Canada's Wonderland or an in-home scotch tasting for 15 people. Donate $5,000 and you get the movie mogul package: you're the main sponsor of a screening and you can splash anything onto the screen you'd like.
The first screening of the summer will be on Saturday July 11.
