The old home of eclectic furniture retailer Marty Millionaire will soon be a new global learning centre and headquarters for not-for-profit organization Free the Children.

An ambitious plan to restore the heritage building to its original state is now underway, according to BlogTO.

The result, which is slated for completion in July 2017, will ultimately see the iconic building stripped of its landmark blue paint and brought back to its original brick architecture.

The centre will be a dedicated centre for learning and leadership as well as an incubation hub, giving young people, startups and social enterprises the space and tools to develop and maintain the tech skills they will need to thrive.

The new site will allow Free the Children to expand its programming, which works to educate and empower youth in the fight against child and youth poverty around the world.
