Toronto's newest LCBO is now open on Queen East in Riverside
/Toronto's newest LCBO has officially opened at 772 Queen St. E in one half of the former space of Carbon Computing.
The Riverside store has more than 2,300 square feet of display space, according to the LCBO. It carries a wide selection of more than 1,000 wines, spirits, beers, ready-to-drink cocktails and coolers. It also features a selection of up to 90 Vintages premium wines and spirits.
The store has a prominent Ontario wine display showcasing nearly 148 Ontario wines, including some 79 VQA wines.
The LCBO says that "the store’s product mix is the result of market research, matching products and services to local tastes and demographics, and community interests of nearly 21,000 residents."
Marketing a monopoly? If you ever wanted proof of the power of the machine that is the LCBO, and how your money fuels the local state-run single-seller liquor monopoly outlet, the statement above tells the story.
At any rate, the convenience of having a one-stop booze shop in this part of town has been a long time coming. The closest LCBO outlets to this location are at Front and Sherbourne to the west, Gerrard and Pape to the north and Queen and Coxwell to the east.
Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
