One of the city's biggest brunch destinations has moved into a new space in Toronto’s east end.

Lady Marmalade, which has been a Leslieville mainstay since first opening in 2009, has relaunched at Broadview and Dundas.

Husband and wife owners David Cherry and Natalia Simachkevitch partnered with acclaimed Canadian architect Omar Gandhi to dream up the design on the location near East Chinatown.

Built in 1885, the 1600 sq. ft. space has been fully transformed into a two-storey 54-seat restaurant with soaring ceilings. The new Lady Marmalade is a bright and airy dining space, filled with natural light and walled with some 100 plants of 10 varying species.

The compressed entrance opens up into the dramatic, light-filled, triple-height space at the front of the dining room. More than 5,000 sq. ft. of Baltic birch spans the interior and folds out from the wall to create banquette seating on both levels — a consistent backdrop to the natural sunlight as it charts its path from the four massive skylights and oversized windows.

Hungry brunchers need not worry: Lady Marmalade’s menu from the former 898 Queen East address remains unchanged. Diners can choose from brunch items, salads, bowls and sandwiches.

Free-run eggs, quality meats, sustainable fish, and fresh and local produce wherever possible, Lady Marmalade’s suppliers include 100km Foods, Acropolis Organics, Aidan's Gluten Free, AlbaLisa Gourmet Foods, Black Bird Baking Co., Hooked, Pilot Coffee Roasters, Rowe Farms, St. John's Bakery, The Big Carrot & Woodward Meats.

Lady Marmalade is now open at 265 Broadview Ave., Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit ladymarmalade.ca for more info.
