Celebrate the beauty of cold with Winter Stations at Toronto's beaches
/The beach might be the last place you’d think to go during Toronto’s peak winter, but a series of extraordinary structures could convince you to come out of hibernation.
The winners have been chosen in the sixth annual Winter Stations, which transforms lifeguard stations along Toronto’s eastern beaches into temporary art installations.
The four winter displays, selected by a design jury from hundreds of submissions, are designed to encourage people to get outside and celebrate the beauty of the stark winter landscape.
The theme for this year is Beyond the Five Senses. Designers were asked to explore how our senses work or appeal to one or more of them specifically when creating the winter-friendly pavilions.
Running from Feb. 17 - March 29, scroll the gallery above for a look at this year’s Winter Stations’ installations.
Admission to Winter Stations is free and open for public display. Visit winterstations.com for more info.
