The wave of change sweeping Queen St. E and Broadview Ave. is showing no signs of slowing as Brickworks Ciderhouse has launched its flagship location at the east end intersection.

One of Canada’s top-selling craft cider-makers, Brickworks Ciderhouse renovated the space previously occupied by An Sibin for its new home.

The cider house is among the first of its kind in Toronto, a home for Brickworks favourites and seasonals as well as experimental micro-batches using rare apple varieties. The bar features 16 taps with 10 ciders and six local beers.

The ciders pair up with a locally sourced seasonal menu with dishes such as gochujang-glazed wings, cider-braised Ontario short ribs, pan-seared pickerel and vegetarian rogan josh.

Brickworks Ciderhouse will be also be developing locally inspired dishes such as Ontario classic apple pies made directly in-house using the same apples as the ciders.

The 3,000-square-foot space has seating for 120, plus an additional 40 on a patio come summer.

Acquired by Toronto's Mill Street Brewery a little over two years ago, the cidery was the first and only of its kind in the city since prohibition in the 1920s.

Their flagship brew, ”Batch: 1904,” is made from pressing fresh apples to create a dry and aromatic flavour with no sugar. Other ciders in their line-up include Queen Street 501, Stadium Island Peach, Parkside Cherry and Hawaii Five Eh! The brand's ciders are distributed nearly Canada-wide.

The Brickworks Ciderhouse is now open at 709 Queen St. E. and accepts reservations. Hours are Monday - Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 12 a.m., Thursday 11 a.m. - 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. - 2 a.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. - 12 a.m.
