After several years of turning out plates of elevated Dutch bar snacks at pop-ups all over the city, the folks behind Borrel are set to open a permanent home for their comfort food.

Husband-wife duo Justin Go and Alison Broverman have announced they will open a brick-and-mortar for Borrel at Danforth and Greenwood.

"Many thanks to all of you who have come to our events over the years. We obviously would not be taking this huge step without your support and enthusiasm for what we’ve been doing," Go said in a statement on Facebook.

Borrel is modelled after the Dutch tradition of slowing down the day with a few drinks, comfort food and good company.

The duo serve traditional Dutch fare including 'stamppot,' a combination of mashed potatoes and kale, served with smoked sausage and lardons then topped with gravy;  'bitterballen,' which is minced chicken cooked in a savoury roux, rolled into balls, breaded and deep-fried, served with a special mustard from the North of Holland; and 'poffertjes,' mini pancakes topped with icing sugar and butter.

Stay tuned for an opening date in the coming weeks at 1333 Danforth Ave. Check out Borrel online for more info.
