Vegan options in east end Toronto are relatively slim compared to the abundance of meatless eateries west enders enjoy.

But thanks to the arrival of none other than Apiecalypse Now!, vegans and those who want less meat in their life will have a new place to go for plant-based dishes.

The popular vegan bakery and pizzeria, based out of the Christie Pits area, has opened its doors at Pape and Mortimer.

In a Facebook post, the bakery recounts its evolution from a subterranean space in Mirvish Village to its new outpost, which brings its award-winning menu of pies to the east end.

"This location will have a full fridge and freezer with 100% vegan prepared meals, treats and ingredients made by our staff and our close friends."

Apiecalypse Now! has a small vegan grocery section and treats such as cookies, shortbread, pies, baked goods and a variety of sweets each day.

Dedicated delivery of its pizzas and grocery items will start in the spring along with a menu expansion to include wholesale items, a kids' menu and catering.

Apiecalypse Now! is now open at 862 Pape Ave. Visit apiecalypsenow.com for more info.
