Vegan food has come a long way in Toronto but has been largely underrepresented in the east end. That’s changing with the opening of Animal Liberation Kitchen in Riverside.

After a successful run catering as a vendor at food festivals and farmers’ markets, the family-run food business launched its own eatery at Queen and Broadview.

The tasty and healthy plant-based menu features such delights as cashew-based mac and cheese, BBQ pulled jackfruit sliders, grilled pepper burritos and quinoa kale salad, plus a selection of smoothies, pressed juices, daily soup and sandwiches (including carrot lox!).

Inspired by animal rights and social justice, Animal Liberation Kitchen is driven by a commitment to affordable vegan options.
