400 litres of stew to be served during SouperBowl at Ceili Cottage

Get your spoon ready as a whopping 400 litres of Guiness Irish Stew are set to be served during the fifth annual SouperBowl fundraiser.

In support of The Leslieville Farmers’ Market, the soup event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7 at Ceili Cottage at 1301 Queen St. E.

You're welcome to drop by with your own bowl, pot or even bucket to fill up with stew, made on-site by the chefs at Ceili Cottage. If sweets are more your thing, the pub's famous sticky toffee pudding will also be available as a dessert.

"You can grab it and go, or hang around to warm your toes at the outdoor fireplace," says Daniel Taylor, market manager of Leslieville Farmers' Market. "We encourage all our market pals tosample the fare at Ceili Cottage as well or order a delicious beverage."

Donations are pay-what-you-can based on how many bowls, buckets or pots you'd like to for friends and family before the big game. The fundraising goal is $5,000 to $6,000, and the money raised helps the mostly volunteer-led market cover its community programming, music and children's education.

"Without the annual SouperBowl fundraiser, the Leslieville Farmers' Market could never be the community gathering place it has grown to be," Taylor says. "In past years we've been amazed by the enthusiasm and generosity of our community, and we want to send out a big thank you for all the support. We're so excited to see everyone again."
