January 13, 2016 - Toronto, ON - The Kingston Road Village Concert Series (KRVCS) continues its season with another sensational, family-friendly concert, carrying on the tradition of bringing professional musicians, representing all genres, to the heart of the Kingston Road Village.
Be My Valentine, Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 pm. It's a match made in heaven, just in time for Valentine's Day! The human voice meets the sublime acoustics of the Kingston Road United church in an evening of high energy and dazzling harmonies courtesy of the critically-acclaimed a cappella singing sensations Countermeasure.
Award-winning composer/arranger Aaron Jensen will lead 14 of Canada's finest young vocalists through a broad range of styles and challenging arrangements of standard repertoire, showcasing the beauty and breadth of the voice. Countermeasure's cross-pollination of pop, jazz and contemporary music creates a unique and modern sound that has earned the ensemble both public and critical acclaim.
Labelled “the leading a cappella chorus out of Toronto” by the Washington Examiner, Countermeasure have been featured at high-profile jazz festivals, concerts, and galas around the world and have shared the stage with such vocal talents as The Swingle Singers, The Real Group, The Four Freshman, and The Nylons. They recently toured North America and Europe and were the only Canadian group chosen to perform at the prestigious A Cappella Festival in London, England.
The KRVCS is the creation of Tim Dawson, a double bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Kingston Road United Church. The proceeds raised from these concerts assist the church to undertake critical repairs on its building, which serves as a community hub in the Beaches area of Toronto.
Concerts are $20 for adult admission, $10 for students and free to kids 12 and under. Located at 975 Kingston Road, Toronto, the church venue is easily accessible by bus and subway, or by car with plenty of parking available in the area.
