KRVCS proudly presents another season of sensational, family-friendly concerts. The tradition of bringing professional musicians to the heart of the Kingston Road Village continues with another inspired performance coming this March.
Celebrating the violin in world music: Celtic fiddling, Norwegian Hardanger and jazz are some of the genres represented at the Toronto Violin Summit on Sunday March 6 at 3:00 pm.
Payadora Tango Ensemble member Rebekah Wolkstein has performed and toured extensively with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Opera Company. A classically trained virtuoso, her skills transcend all genres, from folk to Latin, klezmer to jazz.
Award-winning producer, entertainer, artist, composer, environmentalist, and children's musical superstar, Sultans of String co-founder Chris McKhool wears so many hats it's no wonder he's been seen on Mr. Dressup! The gifted McKhool is a story-teller who brings us music from all parts of the globe.
Jazz and classical violinist Drew Jurecka has performed with such giants as Dave Brubeck and Stevie Wonder. An in-demand soloist, session player, composer, and arranger, Drew has contributed to several JUNO winning and Grammy nominated albums.
Anne Lederman is a world-renowned fiddler, steeped in traditional music. Her ability to reinvent old music sets her apart as an artist. She is the founder of Worlds of Music Toronto, a school devoted to teaching musical traditions and cross-cultural performance.
This concert is a rare opportunity to witness the versatility of the violin as four of the country's most talented performers take you on a trip around the world.
The KRVCS is the creation of Tim Dawson, a bassist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Kingston Road United Church. The proceeds raised from these concerts assist the church to undertake critical repairs to the building which serves as a community hub in the Beach area of Toronto.
Concerts are $20 for adult admission, $10 for students and free to kids 12 and under. Located at 975 Kingston Road, Toronto, the church venue is easily accessible by bus and subway, or by car with plenty of parking available in the area.
